It's understandable if your focus has been elsewhere in recent days, but if you have been paying attention, the Philadelphia 76ers have been dropping some not-so-subtly hints that their iconic black jerseys may be returning in some form.

Friday, Hall of Famer Allen Iverson, the player most associated with the black jerseys, suggested that fans should keep their eyes open for an announcement from the organization next week:

From 1997-2009, the Sixers' primary road jerseys were black. Did they make sense for an organization whose name is based around the founding of the United States of America? Perhaps not. Were they fire? You bet.

The Sixers transitioned back to red, white and blue in the late-aughts, a pretty wise move. We ranked their current home jerseys as the second best in the sport currently. Still, the black jerseys remain one of the most popular in the history of the sport, which is why they checked in our countdown of the greatest jerseys in NBA history.

For quite some time now, there have been calls from Sixers fans to bring the jerseys back. The original "Iverson Era" black jerseys were silk, so we're going to guess that the team doesn't plan to break out silk in the year of 2021. But is a modern twist on the classics on the way? It would appear so.
