If the NHL season ended today, the Washington Capitals – once thought dead in the water – would make the Stanley Cup Playoffs as the final wild card team in the Eastern Conference.
How? Well, Alex Ovechkin – once thought to be washed up – scored two goals en route to the Caps' 5-2 win over the Calgary Flames on Monday night to give him his 19th straight season with over 20 goals.
