The Washington Commanders open their 2023 campaign Sunday at FedEx Field before a soldout crowd and are seven-point favorites over the Arizona Cardinals. There is a chance of rain in the forecast, but other than that conditions are ideal for the team to start 1-0 in Ron Rivera's fourth season in charge, in Sam Howell's second game as the starting quarterback, and in the first game of the new Dan Snyder-less, Josh Harris-led ownership group.
Ben Standig joined Kevin Sheehan to look at Washington's Week 1 matchup against Arizona and first looked at some injury-related roster moves as the Commanders announced they had signed defensive end William Bradley-King to the active 53-man roster and placed wide receiver/returner Dax Milne on injured reserve.
The Bradley-King signing is interesting because with Chase Young being listed as questionable he might not be active for Sunday. (Defensive end James Smith-Williams was also added to the injury report with an oblique and has been listed as questionable.)
Rivera said after practice that Antonio Gibson and Byron Pringle will return kicks with Milne on IR.
Standig and Sheehan then discuss the Commanders offense in Howell's first start, incuding the the tight ends and running backs.
