This version of Commanders fight song sounds 'like a song from a funeral,' says BMitch

The new Commanders fight song does not seem to be playing well with the team's fans or media members.

In yet another instance of confusing messaging that's plagued the organization throughout its rebrand process, there were — by many accounts — multiple versions of the song played before and during Saturday's preseason opener at FedEx Field.

We've already tracked two versions here. Here is yet one more version:

Brian Mitchell of 106.7 The Fan reacted to this version by saying it sounds funereal.

"It sounds like — and I hate saying this — as a young kid, I grew up in the Baptist church, went to a lot of funerals," he said. "And it sounds just like a song being sung at a funeral. Listen, and I'm not trying to be funny. I am being as honest as I can. It's too damn slow. You need to pick that pace up. Because when you say 'fight!' and when you come into the 'run or pass and score,' what the hell are we gonna? Are you gonna sing that part slow? Runnnnn... or passsss..."

"Now, I think that was just kind of an emotional unveiling of the song," JP Finlay said. "It definitely wasn't that slow later."

"But the song was playing slow still later," Mitchell said. "It was not played with the beat."

Mitchell went on to say the Commanders are trying too hard and overthinking the whole process.

"Listen, if I have to give one piece of advice to anybody, I say when you start doing stuff, don't overthink it," he said. "Just be simple. That little thing: KISS — Keep It Simple, Stupid. Everybody needs to just KISS and I guarantee they'll still get a much better idea of what's going on. We're trying to overthink this thing."

"I think there's some overthinking happening," Finlay agreed.

"It's too much," Mitchell said. "Listen man, it's not that damn difficult. But ultimately, win football games. That will get everything to change up quicker than you want it to change up."
