The Commanders’ first touchdown Sunday was a costly one for both them and the Giants, as Washington receiver Curtis Samuel and Big Blue cornerback Cor’Dale Flott were ejected for fighting following Sam Howell’s touchdown run.

Howell reached the end zone with 90 seconds left in the half but saw Giants safety Xavier McKinney him late, as Howell was ruled to have crossed the goal line as McKinney hit him and then continued to push him back.

Commanders left tackle Charles Leno took issue with the hit and went at McKinney and a scuffle broke out, with Samuel and Flott throwing punches at each other and losing their helmets.

Both players were disqualified after the melee, while Howell was taken to the medical tent to be evaluated for injury but later returned to the game.

The Giants went on to win 31-19, sealed by an interception return for a touchdown in the final minute, giving Big Blue a sweep of the Commanders this season.
