Do Rooster and Doc have some beef over their opinions on Ron Rivera's tenure in DC?

Four years in, what has Ron Rivera brought to DC, other than the franchise right back to square one?

It was Doc Walker in with Chris Russell on Wednesday, swapped with Lynnell because of other commitments, and Doc and Rooster first had to get past some potential beef about how they feel personally about Ron?

“It has come to my attention that it is believed that I am beholden to Ron Rivera, essentially in his back pocket somehow, and a supporter and defender of him,” Rooster said. “Is that what you believe, Doc?”

“I can only go by what you say, and every time we evaluate Ron, you go humanitarian and say what a nice guy he is,” Doc said. “You get off-topic, which is a way to defend someone you care about. But I am calling it by result – he is a head coach, and you valuate head coaches by his record. He has an average record and gets average results, so he is an average coach – and I don’t like average, or being in last place. And I’m a little frustrated, because all of my NFC East fan friends are laughing, and I’m at the point where I’m just embarrassed and sick of this – and I take it personal when somebody does something that embarrasses something that means something to me.”

Rooster paused, and admitted he does do that, and that Doc is often right. But, in this case, Chris Russell is holding firm.

“If you preface the Ron Rivera era by saying he’s a nice guy, but an average to mediocre coach and GM, is there anything wrong with that?” Rooster asked. “Maybe he’s more politician than great person, but is there anything wrong with saying that before you throw a guy to the wolves, you preface it by saying he’s a nice guy who tried hard but wasn’t good enough?”

All Doc could say was ‘to each his own,’ but you can take a listen above to their entire conversation for yourself!
