The Kliff Kingsbury experience has begun in Washington after his introductory press conference on Thursday in Ashburn. For Kingsbury, it is his second swing in the NFL, but his first chance to focus solely on the offensive side of the ball, which he admitted could be a big help in bringing his offensive system to full fruition at the professional level.
But what exactly is Kingsbury's offensive system that he will be looking to implement in Washington? Is it the air raid offense made famous by Kingsbury's former college coach the late Mike Leach? Or is it a more balanced offense?
Craig Hoffman reacts to what Kingsbury had to say during his introductory press conference and he highlights the importance of Kingsbury talking about running the ball and utilizing play-action passes to create a dynamic and versatile offensive approach.
"We want to be balanced, we want to be able to run the football and play-action pass and really do whatever it takes to win," Kingsbury said on Thursday. "But the air raid deal is – I'm honored to be a part of that because it was Mike Leach and I have a tremendous amount of respect for him – but I wouldn't catagorize anything we do under that name."
Hoffman gets into what these comments mean for the Commanders' offense and gets nerdy on the air raid offense and what concepts from that system could still seep into Washington's offense.
