One of the reported $6 billion bids for the Washington Commanders may not be as solid as the other, according to a report from Front Office Sports.

AJ Perez of FOS reported Tuesday that "there are questions over whether" Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos, one of the two reported bidders, has the "financial wherewithal to be considered a serious contender" to purchase the Washington franchise from Daniel Snyder.

Reports from ESPN on Tuesday said that Snyder, who reportedly had a $6 billion asking price for the Commanders, received bids of $6 billion from Apostolopoulos and a group led by Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils owner Josh Harris.

Update: Later on Tuesday, Perez reported, citing a source with knowledge of the process, that the Harris group made the only offer with the financial resources that can get through the NFL's vetting process, and the source added, "Harris is the only bidder with a chance."

And Perez reported that the bid from Harris's group, which includes Mitchell Rales and Magic Johnson, was somewhere between $5.5 and $6 billion, which would be below Snyder's apparent floor.

Apostolopoulos, who had previously toured the Commanders' team facility, had held talks about purchasing the NBA's Charlotte Hornets after Michael Jordan reportedly expressed interest in selling, but the Canadian pivoted to focusing on "the opportunity to purchase the Commanders," ESPN reported earlier this month.

Previously published estimations of Apostolopoulos' net worth have ranged from $3.9 to $5.5 billion.
