It was the final Misery Monday of the season for the Junkies, who had a couple hours to eulogize the Commanders’ eighth straight loss before the big-yet-expected news became official: Ron Rivera was fired as head coach shortly after 8 a.m. on Black Monday.

Prior to the official word coming down, the Junks welcomed on John Keim to ask for, at the start, the highlight and lowlights of the Ron era…and yeah, his answer encapsulated things well.

“The highlight you’d have to go back to that first year, clinching the division title, even if it was in a weird way, for what they went through,” Keim said. “The low point, I think there were a half-dozen this year alone, and when you thought it couldn’t get worse, it did.”

The defense led the league in points allowed by a landslide, and that started even when they were 2-0, as the 33 they gave up to the Broncos was the lowest total in a four-game stretch. That was maybe the worst thing about this season, given their defensive prowess at the end of 2022, but it led to Keim using maybe one of the best words to sum up the Rivera era in discussing the loss to the Bears:

“They laid a massive egg.”

Take a listen to Keim’s entire hit above, which includes thoughts on the defense overall, the Belichick to DC rumors and other head coaching thoughts, what Sam Howell and Eric Bieniemy showed, and more!
