After Thursday’s lopsided, embarrassing loss to the lowly Chicago Bears on national TV, JP is ready to fire Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera immediately.
“I back you,” JP told Cakes. “Why not? You got extra days now. It’s Thursday. You got extra days. No one has lasted longer with this little success.”
After watching the Bears jump out to a 27-3 halftime lead, and the defense once again looking much worse than anticipated given the personnel, Cakes is dug in even deeper in his desire to make a coaching change and believes defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio should be out as well.
“He may, and should be, fired today in my opinion,” Cakes said. “If it was Cakes Harris running the show, I’ve seen enough from Ron. I know that he’s a very mediocre NFL head coach who luck-boxed his way to a 15-1 record that artificially inflates his mediocre record because he was lucky enough to draft Cam Newton No. 1 and they had that story book season in Carolina.
"I've seen enough. He’s running the show personnel-wise and coaching-wise, and if I’m Josh Harris, you embarrassed me and all the owners and all the fans, on national television, and I’ve had enough. I’ve seen enough at this point."
EB chimed in: "Don't be discrete, He hasn't had a winning season in seven years. What are we doing?... no one has lasted longer with this little success."
"And if I were Josh Harris," Cakes continued. “Of course, if you fire Ron, then Jack goes with him. I guess you toss the keys to [Eric] Bieniemy as an interim audition. Who cares? Why not?”
Bish said that he would give Rivera one more week, which EB said he was fine with. "Because if you're firing basically your entire staff at 2-3 you're basically giving up," Bish said, "and there's still 12 games left. You're completely giving up if you're giving up on Rivera and Del Rio."
There was pushback on if his firing would give the Commanders a chance by jolting the team to wake-up. Listen to the full conversation on the audio player above!
