JUNKIES: Valdez 'embarrassed' by moral victory talk as EB doubles down on Sunday being pivotal for Sam Howell

In previewing Doc Walker’s coming appearance on the Junkies early Tuesday morning, John Paul Flaim opined “I’m guessing Doc doesn't believe in moral victories,” and the guys mentioned how our own JP Finlay was asked about that during all of his hits on NBC 4 Monday after they themselves had discussed the notion during the show.

And by this point, producer extraordinaire Valdez was just done with all that talk.

“I let you guys have your fun yesterday but, but yesterday's show was so embarrassing,” he told the Junks. “You're playing the music after you just lost in overtime to a division rival? It was embarrassing.”

“It was a bit,” Cakes replied. “I mean, you get bits, don't you?”

“I thought the celebration was way over the top for a loss. I couldn't believe it,” was Valdez’s response. “The Hogs, if they were listening, they had to have been rolling their eyes at what you guys were doing. 1:39This is a historic franchise and you guys are celebrating a three point loss.”

EB just wanted to clarify that all he said was “it was the epitome of a moral victory,” but no such thing exists in Valdez’s world, bit or not.

“You were, you were a once proud franchise and you're celebrating a loss?” he asked.

“We lost that status a long time ago,” EB replied, with Bish chiming in that “that’s what happens when you're so bad for years – you celebrate 34-31 losses in overtime.”

Valdez was still nonplussed, saying “I understand bits, but I couldn't believe what was going on yesterday.”

Of course, the guys (probably Drab) then trolled Valdez by paying the music, to which he replied, “We’re just a participation trophy America right now, just loser talk non-stop.”

And that’s when EB had to step in to double down on his Sam Howell take from Monday's show:

“We’re not a Super Bowl contender. We had to prove that we could go toe to toe with the best and they proved it and then you go from there. It was a good step,” EB said. “It was true in my mind that was a pivotal game for Sam Howell. A lot of people think Sam was just going to get a full season to demonstrate that he’s the guy, but that’s not how the NFL works; fifth-round quarterbacks don't get full seasons to prove their work. If he had had another catastrophic game, his leash would’ve been so short thereafter.”

And the finale from Bish:

“Matt, if you remember when JP was throwing out the question to all three of us, was it a moral victory, I did say it's tough to attach victory to anything that's a loss,” Jason said, “but I did say I thought it was a moral victory for Sam. I didn't necessarily believe it was a moral victory for the team.”
