JUNKIES: How are we feeling about Dan Quinn the day after his intro presser?

We’ve now all had about 24 hours to digest Dan Quinn’s introductory press conference, and listen to various local and national hosts, writers, and pundits give their takes, so it’s time for a vibe check – how are we feeling about the new Commanders regime right now?

“I can weigh in: I do feel more confident,” JP said on Tuesday’s Junkies. “I thought initially it felt like Ron Rivera all over again with similar resumes, and it may prove to be Ron Rivera all over again, we’ll see, but I was impressed with Quinn’s energy. If you watch the video of him just walking in the building, he's got the big backpack, it made me think, what's in his backpack? He came in with the energy, dapping up the guys, and there's reason to be optimistic. I think was impressed with the way that he said he learned from the past and kind of assessed what he did wrong, and he’s going to delegate to his coordinators.”

“I like the fact that he’s gonna be the guy, and this was crazy for Ron, to be all over the timeouts and game management and what's happening throughout the game, instead of being burdened by play-calling,” Cakes said. “He can actually focus on the game, challenge correctly, take care of his time outs, and hopefully he's going to be better than Ron.”

Press conferences are easy to win and don’t mean anything in the end, but JP is more optimistic now, as he was ‘buying what Quinn was selling about doing hard ‘s’ with good people.’

“I was optimistic before the presser as you guys all know, and I'm even more optimistic,” Bish said.

“What struck me is his passion,” EB said. “I just think this guy's really passionate about football, wants to win, wants to get his hands dirty, wants to be super successful. It’s a refreshing change from the last guy, who I just thought was more checked out and had other issues going on. And I also like his hires; Kingsbury is an innovative and exciting mind, and he knows Whitt so well because they’ve worked in lockstep together the last four years.”

And, as JP said, referencing Bill Belichick and Pete Carroll just now stepping down shows that maybe Quinn, in his early-50s, is in this for the long haul, but…

“If they select the correct quarterback, Dan Quinn can be successful. If they don't, it's going to be very hard for him to be successful,” JP finished.
