Cakes is not a defensive guy in general, and has a 'well-documented love affair' with Ben Johnson, but even though Anthony Weaver would come from the Ravens, he'd be No. 7 with an anchor just because of is lowest rank…ahead of only Harbaugh and Belichick, whom he doesn't want because they'd be 'power-hungry.'
But what about the top-ranked DC in the NFLPA's 2023 survey, Detroit's Aaron Glenn?
"His personality is what a team needs; he's kind of like a DeMeco Ryans-like personality," Bish said.
EB says Raheem Morris 'has already failed and that's a red flag, and 'didn't like the shtick Aaron Glenn was doing on Hard Knocks' years ago, so there's hate there, too – and that's when Cakes revealed what WOULD make him okay with a defensive hire.
"I'm okay with a defensive hire, as long as he tosses the keys to the offense to a young, innovative offensive mind," Cakes said. "Like if they hire Mike McDonald from the Ravens, that's a good hire, but I don't want him anywhere near the offense. Let him oversee the defense and be a CEO type."
"That's apparently a big thing with the interviews, is they ask who they're going to bring in," EB said. "Like, I think GP gave the example that when McVay was talking to the Rams, they asked who he was going to have run the defense and he said Wade Phillips."
