First Zoom interviews have been done, in-person second interviews are beginning with available candidates, and even Eric Bieniemy got a look over the last week.
The Commanders’ coaching search is in full swing, but as ‘thorough but rapid’ as the GM search was, NFL rules certainly stifle the latter – so when will the Commanders be naming a head coach?
As of now, they still have to interview one more candidate that satisfies the Rooney Rule requirements, and as we saw last year with the Eagles’ two coordinators, there’s a good chance that we could go into mid-February if the winner is one of the Ravens or Lions coaches on the list and one or both of those teams end up in the Super Bowl – and that’s maybe putting them behind the eight ball, given the Titans are reportedly naming a new head coach barely two weeks after parting ways with Mike Vrabel.
