In Adam Peters' first offseaon as general manager of the Washington Commanders, the team has signed nearly 20 free agents in the first week of free agency and almost all of them on short-term deals.
Let's look at just the guys on one-year deals: linebacker Bobby Wagner, quarterback Marcus Mariota, tight end Zach Ertz, safety Jeremy Chinn, defensive end Clelin Ferrell, cornerback Michael Davis, kicker Brandon McManus, defensive end Dante Fowler, linebacker Anthony Pittman and cornerback Noah Igbinoghene.
Overall, as Kevin Sheehan points out, 11 of the 19 free agent signees are on one-year deals, two are on two-year deals and just six are on three-year deals. And that's it. No four-year deals.
The breakdown is two primarily special teamers (a long snapper and kicker), 11 defensive players and six offensive players.
