Ron Rivera was announced by Dan Snyder as the newest and seventh head coach of his time as owner of the Washington Redskins on Jan. 2, 2022. "Happy Thanksgiving to everybody," Snyder said at the time. Well, four years, six days later owner Josh Harris – representing a brand new consortium of owners – of the Washington Commanders fired Rivera after a 4-13 season and a 26-40-1 tenure.
"We've known all along that Jan. 8, would be the beginning of the Josh Harris ownership era of the football team and it's already begun," Kevin Sheehan said, about the firing of Rivera and the process of replacing the head coach and finding a new head of football operations.
