Lynnell Willingham joins The Hoffman Show for his weekly appearance on a Commanders Overreacton Tuesday and he has a double-dip of takes after the Thanksgiving day shellacking the Washington Commanders took at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys that led to a shakeup of Ron Rivera's coaching staff.
After getting into a long conversation about the defense, Willingham's first overreaction is a message to Washington fans: Everyone has to exude patience over the next 12 months as the Josh Harris ownership group gets to work rebuilding the organization after 20+ years of Dan Snyder's reign of terror as the team is "a lot closer to the bottom" than they are the playoffs.
And so, the final 5 weeks of the Commanders 2023 should be about evaluating what Washington has in second-year quarterback Sam Howell, who Willingham believes is good enough to return as an impact player next season. And who should be on the roster the next season as defensively, it needs to be ripped down to the studs.
And the second: Current offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy needs to be a coach on the staff in D.C. in 2024.
To find out if Craig Hoffman believes these are overreactions or sound takes – spoiler alert he really disagrees with part of the first one – listen on the audio player above!
