In an anonymous poll of players conducted by The Athletic, it’s clear that NFL players don’t care to play at MetLife Stadium.
Per the poll, MetLife easily ranked as the worst stadium to play in, as 18.4 percent of players picked it as the worst, with the next highest being FedEx Field, home of the Commanders, at 13.9 percent.
Responses by players in the poll included “turf sucks and the whole place is lame,” as well as “fans are horrible. Everything about the place is horrible” when asked about the home of the Jets and Giants.
Players have been publicly critical about the turf surface at MetLife, including players who call it home. Garrett Wilson called it “garbage,” while many others have spoken out in recent years after non-contact injuries have occurred on the field. MetLife Stadium changed its turf surface before this season, but it doesn’t seem to have changed the sentiment around the league.
As for FedEx, one player said “almost everything about it is below the standard of what an NFL stadium should be,” while another added, “the place is just a dump.”
The poll also included results for the most annoying fanbase in the league, in which the Eagles took the top spot at 25.3 percent, just beating out the Cowboys at 24.7 percent. The Jets were fifth at 6.8 percent.
One player said the Eagles fans “swear they’re the biggest football gurus on earth,” while another said they are “just loud, rude, and obnoxious.”
