Commanders head coach Ron Rivera interviewed San Francisco 49ers assistant head coach and running backs coach Anthony Lynn on Wednesday.
According to Ben Standig of The Athletic, Rivera drove from Pebble Beach, Calif. to the Bay Area to meet with Lynn. Rivera has a home at Pebble Beach and is playing in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this week. Rivera was the sole representative of the Commanders for Lynn's interview, per Standig.
Lynn, 54, has served in the role with the 49ers for one season, prior to which he was an offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions in 2021.
Lynn also has head coaching experience running the show for the Chargers from 2017 to 2020, compiling a 33-31 record in that span.
The Commanders have already interviewed a host of other candidates, including Eric Studesville (Dolphins), Thomas Brown (Rams), Charles London (Falcons), Pat Shurmur (Broncos) and Ken Zampese (Commanders). Lynn becomes the sixth candidate to interview for the vacancy.
