As the 2024 NFL Draft gets closer and closer, the takes and opinons from people around the football world are going to get either more consistent or more incosistent. Well, that's just gonna be a rough one for Washington Commanders fans to deal with when it comes to sorting out which quarterback – Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye (if the Chicago Bears take Caleb Williams at No. 1 overall) – takes in the first round.

As an example, here is what Merril Hoge told The Sports Junkies this week after reviewing some game tape: "I wouldn't touch Maye. I wouldn’t draft Maye in the first round; there's a bunch of things that bother me – he’s extremely inconsistent, his accuracy and processing, inconsistent. He’s not extremely athletic, I find him more stiff. He's got a longer throwing motion which allows more hits in our league than he gets in college. And I’m just bothered by it.”

For Kevin Sheehan, there was something Hoge said during the clip he played that made sense: If you want to fall out of love with Maye, watch his game against North Carolina State. "Because that was awful. And I don't know that Jayden Daniels has one game that you would watch from either of the two years that he started in '22 or '23 where you would be fearful of what you were getting," he said, adding it was interesting Hoge pointed to the game aginst the Wolfpack that was Maye's worst game.

But all of this goes to Sheehan's main point that a listener brought up in a tweet: How the hell are you to know when you have these wild swings between people on evaluating prospects?

Sheehan discusses that and more on the audio player above!
