When Joe Gibbs was hired in Washington to be the head coach the reaction was less than ambivalent. Joe Theisamann was of course excited, hoping he would get the chance to throw the ball around in an explosive, high-flying offense. That never came to be, but the team was better off because of it.

Nearly a half-century later, Washington is hiring a head coach and will miss out on the offensive-minded candidates, the two that they interviewed both decided to stay put in their current roles of offensive coordinator.

"I think they're doing a wonderful, thorough job on evaluatating the people they want to be the coach of this football team," Theismann told Kevin Sheehan about his assesment of GM Adam Peters' and owner Josh Harris' search fro the Commanders next head coach.

After going over what qualities he likes to see in a head coach, Theismann and Sheehan transitioned to the NFL Draft and if there is a quarterback who caught No. 7's eye.

But before getting into the present, Sheehan walks Theismann down memory lane for a little reminiscing about Jan. 30 1983, when the Washington Redskins scored a 27-17 comeback win (after being down 17-10 at the half) over the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl XVII.
