A quiet start to Commanders training camp? Kevin Sheehan says: Good

Kevin Sheehan began the show on Tuesday by reading an email from a listener Daniel: "You and [Ben Standig]... and [JP Finlay]... said this camp so far has been quiet. Isn't that a good thing? Why do all of you root for noise? LOL!"

While noise and information from camp is good - especially when there is some insight to be had about the team – Sheehan said "I love the quiet" around the Washington Commanders' first training camp under Dan Quinn.

"I love the fact that there's really no action as it relates to Washington's training camp," he said. "Most of the big stories around the league deal with big contracts. Jordan Love's contract. Tua [Tagovailoa's] contract. The contracts that haven't come for Brandon Aiyuke and CeeDee Lamb at this point. The Dak Prescott conversation is a big one. And there is a lot typically about the Cowboys, more about the Cowboys so far here early in the training camp [cycle] in the national conversation.

"Last year if you recall it was all about the Jets... it was basically 24/7 coverage of Aaron Rodgers and the Jets. That was the No. 1 NFL training camp storyline."

While it is quiet in Washington, "there is a lot of expectation, optimism, anticipation for this particular team because of the quarterback more than anything else, probably followed by the overall regime and coaching and front office change."

Sheehan added that he's rooting for "a step in the right direction this year. Like a big step in the right direction football-wise."

If they don't meet his hope of a 10-7 season, Sheehan said he just hopes that at the end of the 2024 NFL season the franchise is heading in the right direction and that means knowing for sure if the new regime got it right with Jayden Daniels.

Quiet now is good, but hopefully some noise down the road.
