The Junks aren’t up in arms about the Commanders taking Emmanuel Forbes with their first-round pick, but they aren’t celebrating it, either.
The consensus to open Friday’s show was a failure to address the biggest needs on offense, but considering what was left by the time they were on the clock, it’s hard to really fault them.
“I wanted an offensive lineman…they all got taken,” Cakes said. “The guy I wanted went 10. There was a run on them. Kind of a dud for me, because I wanted to help the offense, but hopefully that’s what they do today.
“To me, it was a fart sound.”
Of course, given the nature of the draft, the pick will either be crucified or celebrated in the coming years depending on how Forbes’ career turns out, but in the immediate aftermath, it’s hard to make a true verdit.
They had obviously come to a consensus on Forbes, and they pulled the trigger. But if [Christian] Gonzalez goes out and he becomes an All-Pro, and Forbes is kind of ‘eh,’ you’re gonna look back on this in two or three years and say, ‘What were they thinking?’
