The Junkies react to the Commanders sale: 'He should be embarrassed by turning this franchise into an afterthought'

If you were listening to DC radio on Thursday, our midday shows were on the air when news broke that the Commanders’ sale was agreed to in principle – meaning The Sports Junkies were the only ones who didn’t get a chance to react.

We had to wait until 6 a.m. Friday morning for that, but the guys didn’t disappoint, popping champagne bottles in the studio and celebrating the end of an era.

“It is a payday, but it’s also a pretty big day here in Washington, as it seems Daniel Snyder is officially selling the team,” JP said as the crew clapped and “Celebration” by Kool & The Gang played behind their chat. “There’s been so much losing, and I know there are other things which are criminal and civil, done a lot of bad stuff, but the biggest sin for the fans is they were a consistent loser.”

The Junkies harkened back to the old days when Snyder first bought the team and would actually talk in public, pumped about winning – but as Cakes said, “he’s done nothing but run it into the ground, and people are embarrassed to admit they are Commanders fans.”

After a little discussion on the terms of the deal, laid out by Bish and EB, JP did a little more celebrating and noted that the NFL’s other owners might have voted Snyder out had he not decided to sell the team now.

“He doesn’t suffer that embarrassment, but he should be embarrassed by his 24-year reign of terror and turning this franchise into an afterthought,” JP said. “Especially when he looks up in the stands and they’re empty, and he sees the rot in the fan base.”

Bish flat out said Snyder has been “a terrible owner in all facets,” to which EB replied: “He didn’t win, and he was a scumbag, that’s a deadly combo.”

And then, Cakes came in with the dagger:

"He always should walk around in shame because of what he did to this franchise. He should always look at the tops of his little Size 8 shoes, because he's an embarrassment. He's a stain on the franchise's history. Go live on your yacht in the Mediterranean or your country estate in London!"

Take a listen above to hear the entire conversation about Snyder!
