Washington signs wide receiver Adam Humphries

The Washington Football Team announced they have signed free agent wide receiver Adam Humphries.

Humphries, who played with new Washington quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in Tampa Bay, signed a deal during his visit to the team's Ashburn headquarters Thursday. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Humphries, a 27-year-old slot receiver, played seven games with the Tennessee Titans in 2020, catching 23 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns.

He joined the Titans on a four-year, $36 million deal in 2019, but injuries have limited his production and kept him out of 13 regular-season games in the last two seasons.

In 2020, he missed one game on the COVID-19 list and eight others due to a concussion he sustained in Week 8. He finished the season on Injured Reserve, unavailable for Tennessee in the playoffs.

Prior to signing in Tennessee, the 5'11 receiver spent his first four seasons in Tampa after entering the league undrafted. In his final year with the Bucs in 2018, Humphries set career highs with 76 receptions for 816 yards and five touchdowns. Some of those totals came with Fitzpatrick at quarterback.

The move is part of Washington's near-complete overhaul of its wide receiver corps. The team will now partner Humphries with the versatile Curtis Samuel, who signed last week, star wideout Terry McLaurin.

The move could also mean the end of slot receiver Steven Sims Jr's time in Washington, according to JP Finlay.
