The Washington Football Team signed nearly all of its final roster cuts to its practice squad, a 15-player haul that includes running back Peyton Barber and former 2020 draft picks Antonio Gandy-Golden and Keith Ismael.
Also signed to Washington's practice squad is William Bradley-King, the lone 2021 draft pick Washington released (seventh-rounder) while purging its roster to 53 men.
Washington can sign up to 16 players to its practice squad, so one spot remains open (as of this writing).
Not included among Washington's practice squad signees were offensive tackle David Sharpe, linebacker David Mayo (more on him below), quarterback Steven Montez (who was claimed by the Lions and is signing to their practice squad), and cornerback Jimmy Moreland (who was waived with an injury designation and whose future is pending an injury settlement).
It's quite an accomplishment for Washington in regards to identifying the players they thought would or would not be claimed by other teams. The Football Team protected those it thought might be of value to other clubs and re-signed the majority of the rest to its practice squad.
Here's the full list of players Washington has signed to its practice squad:
RB Peyton Barber
OL Beau Benzschawel
DE William Bradley-King
WR Antonio Gandy-Golden
C Keith Ismael
CB Danny Johnson
LB Jordan Kunaszyk
G Wes Martin
LB Jared Norris
S Jeremy Reaves
DE Bunmi Rotimi
T David Steinmetz
DT Daniel Wise
DT Gabe Wright
C Jon Toth
While Washington finalized its 53-man roster on Tuesday with only four linebackers, Ben Standig reports the Football Team is expected to re-sign linebacker David Mayo. That would obviously mean someone currently on the 53-man is getting cut, which puts us all in wait-and-see mode.
This situation is fluid.
