Celtics head coach Ime Udoka is possibly facing a significant suspension for violating organizational guidelines, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

“Discussions are ongoing within the Celtics on a final determination,” Wojnarowski tweeted Wednesday night.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that Udoka had "an improper intimate and consensual relationship with a female member of the team staff," and Wojnarowski later added that the Celtics could be considering a suspension as long as the entire 2022-23 season.

The Celtics hired Udoka last year to replace Brad Stevens, who moved upstairs to serve as the president of basketball operations. After a slow start to the season, the Celtics tore through the Eastern Conference in the second half and finished with a 51-31 record, capturing the No. 2 seed.

They came within two games of beating the Warriors in the NBA Finals. Udoka, 45, finished fourth in voting for coach of the year.

Celtics training camp begins Tuesday.
