Governor Larry Hogan's press conference this afternoon covered a lot of new information about Maryland's COVID-19 response including a mask order expansion, a travel advisory, and the retirement of Fran Phillips, Deputy Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health. Maryland remains paused at Stage 2 of Recovery and will not move to Stage 3 yet.
Effective at 5 p.m. this Friday, July 31st, masks must be worn in all indoor public buildings and offices. Masks also will now be required outdoors whenever it is not possible to maintain a social distance of at least 6 feet from others.
Hogan also issued a health advisory cautioning Marylanders not to travel to states where the percent of positive cases of coronavirus tests is greater than 10%.
Those states where the percent of positive cases is greater than 10% are : Florida, Texas, Georgia, Louisiana, Arizona, Alabama, South Carolina, Nebraska and Idaho.
The Governor announced the retirement of Fran Phillips, Deputy Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health, amid the pandemic. She will be replaced by Dr. Jinlene Chan, the current Assistant Health Secretary and Chief Medical Officer.
