Spotlight On Maryland-Port Discovery Children's Museum

This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Carter Polakoff, President & CEO, and Emily Conner, Director of Arts & Character Integration at Port Discovery Children's Museum to talk about At Play Learning, arts and character integration, access and inclusion, ways to support Maryland's leading children's museum and B'More You, a Baltimore-inspired exhibit coming in Summer 2027.

Port Discovery Children's Museum provides unique opportunities and high-quality experiences that make play accessible, educational and fun for all. Through its At Play Learning approach, the museum creates opportunities for children to build problem-solving communication, resilience, collaboration and confidence through meaningful play. At Play Learning is how Port Discovery puts the power of play into practice-connecting what happens inside the museum with its work in communities and its support for educators and caregivers. Character development is central to At Play Learning.

Port Discovery is a KultureCity-certified Sensory Inclusive facility with features like Sensory Friendly Sundays providing a quieter Museum experience with limited attendance and Access & Inclusion Afternoons that create modified Museum experiences for groups serving children and families with disabilities.

B'More You is a Baltimore-inspired exhibit coming in Summer 2027. Inspired by the energy, creativity and connection of Baltimore neighborhoods, it will transform more than 4,500 square feet into an urban indoor oasis filled with places for children and families to move, imagine, explore their own strengths and connect with others. B'More You is replacing Adventure Exhibitions which closed in September and will open to the public next Summer.
