This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Christopher Dipnarine, Founder of 4MyCiTy, the Baltimore-based nonprofit dedicated to inclusive sustainability and combating food insecurity through its mission of "Zero Waste to Zero Hunger." Founded in 2018, the organization has successfully diverted over 270 million pounds of organic waste from landfills through innovative programs such as food rescue, large-scale composting, and youth job training.

4MyCiTy recently unveiled Maryland's First Zero Waste Facility in Baltimore. With the nation's largest indoor composter and an outdoor composter that combine to process 10,000 pounds of food waste into certifiable, usable soil. This facility transforms close to 10,000 pounds of food waste each day into nutrient-rich soil and rescue/redistribute food to families in need.

We spoke with Chris back in July of 2022, and in that short time 4MyCiTy has accomplished so much! In the interview he talks about their Compost on the Go! program that makes composting accessible to everyone by allowing families to drop off food scraps at their facility for free using 4MyCiTy composting bags. He also highlighted 4MyCiTy's Food Rescue Program that provides free food distribution services at their location in Baltimore City Monday though Friday, 10am-6pm on a first-come, first-serve basis with no appointments necessary.

4MyCiTy also offers 4MyCiTyU!, their job training and mentoring program for individuals aged 16-23, a paid 5 week or 80 hour training program, whichever comes first.
