Last week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined via phone by Andrea Specht, American Craft Council, (ACC), Executive Director, and in studio by Nikki Harris, a Baltimore fiber artist who is participating in ACC's flagship event, American Craft Made Baltimore Marketplace, returning to the Baltimore Convention Center February 21st-23rd. The 3-day immersive event allows guests to celebrate all things handmade, by showcasing a juried selection of hundreds of artists from across the country and highlighting the work of local craft organizations, schools and partners.

ACC is a nationwide, membership-based nonprofit working to foster livelihoods and ways of living grounded in artful work of the human hand, creating a more joyful, humane and regenerative world. It's significant to note the Minneapolis based nonprofit has chosen Baltimore as the location of their flagship event for many years. Via phone in Minneapolis, ACC Executive Director Andrea Specht spoke about new features and highlights of the event including Weekend Passes offering access to all 3 days of the event, as well as Let's Make!, an interactive exhibit showcasing the processes and skills involved in making handcrafted goods.

Baltimore fiber artist Nikki Harris talked about the inspiration behind her craft and the mediums she works with and how the American Craft Made Baltimore Marketplace is supporting local artists in Baltimore and how its influenced her artistic growth and career trajectory.
