This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio on Primary Election Day in Maryland by Shea Rice, Interim President & CEO, the Greater Baltimore Urban League, (GBUL), and Miles Armstrong, Greater Baltimore Leadership Association, (GBLA) Volunteer, to talk about the exciting work happening at GBUL and the power we all have to shape the future of our communities. (GBLA is a place for young professionals in Baltimore, aged 21 to 40, dedicated to embodying and advancing the mission of GBUL). Miles delivered a powerful message on why organizations like GBUL matter, why voting matters and why economic mobility is the ceiling for generational wealth and opportunity. GBUL in non partisan, but committed to access, participation and protecting the right to vote.

Audacy partnered with National Urban League in 2020 and Audacy Baltimore teamed up with GBUL locally to advance racial justice & equality in the communities we serve. Part of that partnership is quarterly interviews that highlight GBUL's impact in the community and shine the spotlight on voices like GBLA Volunteer Miles Armstrong, GBUL Interim President & CEO Shea Rice and her dedicated team.

During the interview Shea & Miles talked about GBUL's return to their Orchard Street home, their 2026 Business Summit, their Maryland Wind Energy Workforce Development program with Project JumpStart, Inc., preparing Baltimore residents for careers in clean energy, their Digital Literacy Program in partnership with Innovative Initiatives ensuring communities have the skills to thrive in a digital world and the return of their Restaurant Accelerator Program for its 6th year helping entrepreneurs grow businesses that strengthen neighborhoods.

The conversation was about more than programs. It was about the power of participation.
