This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash spoke via phone with Colonel Warline Bryant, U.S. Army, (Ret.), and President of the Board of Directors for The CHOSEN Community Development Corporation about the Aberdeen, Maryland based non-profit organization's mission to provide service and programs to individuals and families in Harford and Cecil Counties.
CHOSEN Community Development Corporation began in May of 2020 and started with an annual conference for families to assist with financial and community support, but once COVID-19 emerged, the organization saw a greater need than just an annual conference and the non-profit began! In 2021, the CHOSEN Community Development Corporation won the Governor's Award for Leadership and Volunteerism from Governor Larry Hogan recognizing the CHOSEN'S food distribution and COVID-19 clinic services during the pandemic. The CHOSEN remains one of the largest food distributors in Harford County.
The CHOSEN Community Development Corporation is also partnering with the State Department to help stop human trafficking. Two of the upcoming fundraising events CHOSEN CDC is sponsoring are in support of this initiative. Their Sneaker Ball is coming up September 15th at the Richlin Ballroom in Edgewood, Maryland and their 3rd Annual Tee It Forward Golf Tournament will be held Thursday, October 12th at Winters Run Golf Club in Bel Air.
