This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Robert Newman, Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, (GSCM), Board Member and VP of Global Business Development for Stanley Black and Decker, and Grace Fieni, GSCM Alumna, Gold, Silver and Bronze Award Winner, inaugural Girl Board Member and a Verification & Emulation Engineer with Northrop Grumman, to talk about GSCM's Distinguished Women Awards, GSCM Alumna Reunion and Jane of All Trades Program.

The Girl Scouts have been in Baltimore since 1913, one year after the organization was founded in Savannah, Georgia. Today, Girl Scouts of Central Maryland provides nearly 10,000 girls in Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Carroll, Harford and Howard Counties with leadership development experiences through a variety of programs. Grace Fieni shared her Girl Scout experience and how that prepared her for her future in Engineering. She talked about earning her Bronze, Silver & Gold Award, being the inaugural Girl Board Member and her Distinguished Women Shadow Girl experience. The 2025 Distinguished Women Awards are November 5 from 5:30-8:30pm at Preston Hall in Baltimore. Grace also shared information about the GSCM Alumna Reunion on September 21st at GSCM's Camp Whippoorwill in Pasadena.

Rob discussed his involvement on the GSCM Board, his role with the Distinguished Women Awards and talked about the program his employer Stanley Black and Decker is sponsoring called Jane of All Trades. The event is Saturday, September 27th and will introduce girls to the world of trades and the high-paying careers that are part of it.
