This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash spoke with Traci Kodeck, CEO, and Joe Poindexter, Senior Director, Health Insurance Programs, at HealthCare Access Maryland, (HCAM), about their services that reach community members across the state. Every year, they serve over 80,000 individuals. HCAM is a non profit organization with a mission to make Maryland healthier. They do this by connecting Maryland residents to health insurance coverage and care coordination.

Over the last 25 years, HCAM has developed specialized programs to support the unique needs of many populations including: pregnant and post-partum women, medically managing all children and youth in the Baltimore City foster care system, connecting individuals with mental health and substance abuse conditions and individuals returning to the community following incarceration.

Open enrollment is going on now. Marylanders have until January 15th to enroll. HCAM is hosting an enrollment event on Saturday, December 10th at the Doubletree Hotel in Pikesville from 9am-1pm. Individuals can stop by to get enrolled in health insurance or ask any of their Navigators or Outreach Specialists insurance questions.
