This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Ann Strozyk, Environmental Educator for the Howard County Conservancy, (HCC), and Jessica Kohout, Youth Climate Institute Manager for HCC to talk about their Youth Climate Institute and their Earth Day Activities.
HCC, a local non-profit, reaches more than 30,000 people each year through their environmental education programs. They offer activities for children and adults throughout the year at their 232-acre Mt. Pleasant Farm in Woodstock and at their Nature Preschool at Howard County's Belmont Manor and Historic Park in Elkridge. 2020 marked the 30th Anniversary of the Conservancy.
HCC's Youth Climate Institute educates & certifies the next generation of leaders on climate science, environmental justice and real world solutions. This year the Youth Climate Institute students will be the highlight of HCC's Earth Day celebration on Saturday April 22, 2023 from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm at their Mt. Pleasant Farm on 10520 Old Frederick Road in Woodstock. Activities will include Tree Plantings. Service Projects, Guided Hikes and the Youth Climate Institute Showcase.
