Celebrating 40 Years of Improving Baltimore Through Green Spaces and Education

This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Parks & People's President & CEO Frank Lance, and Director of Youth Programs, Alicia Copeland, to talk about their mission and youth programs including their SuperKids Camp and Branches Program, and how they are celebrating their 40th anniversary! This year Parks & People marks 40 years of providing Baltimore with much needed out-of-school time youth programming & long overdue community parks, green spaces and playgrounds.

SuperKids Camp, (SKC), is a 6-week summer learning program starting June 24th that engages rising 1st through 5th graders in literacy & STEAM-focused enrichment activities to prevent summer learning loss. Parks & People also offers Branches, an internship & summer job opportunity for Baltimore City high school students allowing them to work, learn, get outdoors and improve and improve their communities.

Parks & People is commemorating their 40th anniversary year with special events like Shakespeare in the Park Friday, July 19th on their green campus located at 2100 Liberty Heights Avenue in Baltimore and Picnic in the Park on Friday, September 20th.
