This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash spoke with Anne Mannix Brown, Sr. Director of Communications for the Baltimore Museum of Art, (BMA), and the BMA's Manager of Public Programs and practicing Metalsmith and Jewelry Artist Tracey Beale about their new show "The Culture: Hip Hop and Contemporary Art in the 21st Century," now on view through July 16, 2023 at the BMA as well as other shows and special events coming up including Art After Hours: The Culture on Friday, June 30th at 8pm, and Beats per Minute: The 50th Anniversary of Hip- Hop; Baltimore's (untold) Contributions to the Culture, on Thursday, June 8th at 6:30pm.
"The Culture," co-organized with the Saint Louis Art Museum, explores the past 2 decades of hip hop through a wide range of painting, sculpture, photography, installations, video and fashion organized into six themes.
