On this week's episode of Spotlight on Maryland, Austin was joined by Jon Tolson, Co-Founder and Vice President of The Brandon Tolson Foundation.
On April 7th, 2016, Brandon was involved in a fatal car accident on his way to work. He was only 20 years old. Jon and his wife Candi started The Brandon Tolson Foundation to provide support both personal and financial to families who have experienced the sudden and tragic loss of a child. Born out of the loss of their son Brandon, the Foundation is committed to helping other unprepared families through the indescribable pain and agonizing process of a child's death. They assist families with financial support (i.e. funeral expenses, lost wages, medical expenses, etc), fundraising efforts without fees to the family, therapists, support groups and more.

Later in the show, we were joined by Rich Blood, who lost his 18-year-old son to a drug overdose. He shared his experience with the Brandon Tolson Foundation and the community of parents who continue to help each other grieve. Every family who has lost a child has a different story to tell, and the Brandon Tolson Foundation is here to help everyone who has lost a child, even if it was before the foundation was established.
If you want to help support families going through the loss of a child, you can donate here.
