This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Joe Papa, President, Society of Italian American Businessmen, (SIAB), & Maryland Italian Festival Co-Chair, to talk about their mission and largest fundraiser of the year- the Maryland Italian Festival, coming up Friday, September 26th-Sunday, September 28th at the Ripken Stadium lot in Aberdeen.
SIAB is a Harford County, Maryland-based 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable and faith-based organization of moral and ethical businessmen who support family, community, and each other. They strive to preserve and celebrate their Italian heritage by promoting their culture, traditions, food and language. SIAB impacts our community by supporting other local charities through grants, sponsorships and scholarships. Their charitable giving focuses on areas of education, family and child services, mental health and addiction. In 2024, SIAB reached a milestone by surpassing the $1,000,000 mark in community contributions.
The Maryland Italian Festival, now in its third year, has a new home in the parking lot of Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen. The festival celebrates Italian culture through food, music and entertainment and their popular bocce tournament-including a Special Olympics tournament.
