This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Dr. Stuart Martin, Deputy Director of the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center, (UMGCCC), one of the nation's National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers, and Bryan Soronson, retired Senior Administrator, Department of Neurology, University of Maryland School of Medicine, and a Cancer Center Patient to talk about UMGCCC and the Maryland Half Marathon & 5K on Saturday, June 6th in Maple Lawn.

The Maryland Half Marathon & 5K is more than a race; it is an opportunity for the community to come together in support of UMGCCC's mission to discover better treatments, improve patient care and ultimately save lives. Funds raised advance UMGCC's work to translate promising discoveries from the lab to patient care, identifying new genetic biomarkers and developing targeted cancer therapies. The Center provides hundreds of clinical trials that give patients access to innovative treatments that may not yet be widely available.

Each year UMGCCC delivers more than 56,000 outpatient visits, treats approximately 3,100 new patients, provides over 400 active clinical trials and facilitates 640 preventative cancer screenings, helping expand access to care and improve patient outcomes for patients across Maryland.
