A suspect wanted in connection to a shooting in Western North Carolina last week is now in custody. The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office says Alexander Sherman McKenzie was taken into custody on Tunnel Road in Asheville, Tuesday. McKenzie was wanted in connection to a shooting on I-40 in Buncombe County, last Wednesday.
A victim told deputies that he had been driving on I-40 when another driver identified as McKenzie fired shots into his vehicle. McKenzie faces attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into a dwelling and several other charges.
No injuries were reported from the incident.
