A 2nd reading on development agreements for three data centers in Spartanburg County has been approved. The County Council's latest meeting involved heavy data center discussions. The agreements cover the proposed data centers on South Pine Street, Jones Road and Tyger River Industrial area.
Dozens of residents spoke during the public comment portion of the meeting. Several of those speakers highlighted the fact that details for site master plans and development schedules have not been filled in, yet. They asked council to hold off on their final vote until those documents are finalized and made public.
While Spartanburg County did vote to approve a moratorium on data centers, that agreement allows some projects below a certain power threshold to move forward.
Another public hearing is set to be held on each agreement in the coming future.
