An Upstate native who was working as a police officer in Las Vegas is dead after being shot by a suspect. The Clark County Sheriff's Office in Nevada says Officer Austin Abdelnabi was shot while responding to a call at a business Tuesday, when the suspect opened fire.
Officials say, the suspect was killed in the shooting as well, however they have not released the suspect's identity, as of this time. Abdelnabi was a native of the Greenville area , who had graduated from Blue Ridge High School in Greer. He then went on to get his criminal justice degree at Clemson.
He was a decorated marine prior to joining the Las Vegas Metro Police Department in 2023. Austin Abdelnabi was 30 years old.
