Voters in Greenville County have again rejected a one percent sales tax increase. The issue was on the ballot Tuesday for the 2nd time in two years time. Over 51% of voters turned down the proposed tax increase.
A similar measure failed in 2024 by less than 8,000 votes. While the proposed sales tax was rejected in Greenville County, four cities within the county voted to adopt 1% sales tax increases.
Those include Greenville, Mauldin, Simpsonville and Travelers Rest. Simpsonville was the only municipality of the group where the tax increase vote was closely contested
