A Westminster woman is facing charges after the death of an elderly family member. The Oconee County Sheriff's Office conducted a welfare check on an elderly woman at a home near Westminster, last month.
The family requested the welfare check and the woman was found unresponsive. The Sheriff's Office says the home was in disarray and the woman was lying in unsanitary conditions in the bed and had visible wounds. The elderly woman was bed bound and subsequently died and now her primary caregiver has been arrested.
51 year old Lorie Ellen Lee is now charged with Neglect of a Vulnerable Adult Resulting in Death. Officials say, she failed to provide the woman with necessary care, food and water.
