CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Metra is investigating a crash in South Chicago overnight that left one person dead.
The SUV was left mangled with heavy damage to the front passenger side after the crash at about 12:30 a.m. at 87th and Baltimore Avenue.
Metra said one person died at the scene and three other people were taken to the hospital with injuries when the SUV collided with the Electric Line train.
The Medical Examiner has so far identified the victim as a female. Things could have been worse, but Metra said there were no passengers on the train.
