The woman managed to get to safety, police said, and the two dogs attacked another small white dog being walked by a man. The two dogs also bit the man as he tried to defend his dog.
Someone eventually managed to gain control of the two aggressive dogs and turned them over to their owner.
Meanwhile, police and paramedics arrived. The two injured dogs were taken to a veterinary clinic, where the first dog to be attacked died. The second dog was treated for its injuried.
Both bite victims were treated at the scene and then taken to the Northwest Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said the incident is under investigation. No charges have been filed.
