(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The National Weather Service has confirmed two tornadoes briefly touched down in the suburbs – in Joliet and Naperville -- during Monday morning’s severe weather.

Will County's Emergency Management Agency says the damage appeared to be minor and focused near the Kendall Ridge and Cumberland subdivisions.  Director Allison Anderson describes what she saw when she went out at around 11 a.m.:

“Small twigs and tree branches down, a few patio chairs kind of knocked around, some trampolines that were moved around. A lot of wind damage is what I noticed.”

The NWS said the suburban tornadoes were believed to have been of the weakest variety -- EF-0.

In DuPage County, Board Member Lucy Chang Evans, chair of the Judicial and Public Safety Committee, said the bad weather moved through her region just before 10 a.m., leaving behind minor damage in Wheaton and Warrenville.

Also Monday, a tornado was reported in central Illinois.
