2 women killed, 2 others injured in crash near Rate Field

Two women were killed and two men injured after a crash near Rate Field on Sunday night, according to Chicago police.

CHICAGO (WBBM Newsradio) – Two women were killed and two men injured after a crash near Rate Field on Sunday night, according to Chicago police.

The crash happened around 9:13 p.m. in the 300 block of West 35th Street in the city’s Bridgeport neighborhood. Police said a red sedan heading east on 35th lost control, crossed the median and struck a westbound SUV.

The 24-year-old woman driving the sedan and her 21-year-old passenger were taken to Stroger Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Their identities have not yet been released.

Two men in the SUV were transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The crash occurred just west of Shields Avenue, near Rate Field. Area One detectives are investigating the cause.
